District Literacy Meet, Level 2 – ‘Prerna’ of IW District 308 was organized by District Literacy Committee Chair (DLCC) PDC Dr. Rashmi Thakral on Sunday, 2nd August 2015 at Suraj Palace, Ambala City under the dynamic leadership of District Chairman – Mala Awasthy. The Multi-zonal Literacy Meet was attended by about 100 delegates comprising of Club Presidents & Secretaries, Club Literacy Committee Chair (CLCC), Zonal Literacy Coordinators (ZLCC) and other members from 7 zones of IW District. The event was conceptualized and implemented by PDC Dr. Rashmi Thakral in a befitting manner that provided a definite direction to the clubs so as to develop projects under Literacy. She gave a very precise and educative presentation on various verticals of ‘T-E-A-C-H’ that was highly appreciated by the delegates. All the designated club delegates were given very thoughtfully designed informative circulars and reporting forms on TEACH program by DLCC Dr. Rashmi Thakral.

District Chairman Mala Awasthy in her imminent style highlighted the district goals under TEACH program and various Rotary India Literacy Mission Grants for clubs and inspired club leaders to put their best foot forward to achieve these goals during the year. District Chairman Mala Awasthy desired that every InnerWheel club in district 308 should adopt this project and fulfill the goals of ‘T-E-A-C-H’ program.

Mr. S.K. Kalra, Deputy Elementary Education Officer, Ambala was the Special Guest and speaker who enlightened the delegates about government policies and prevailing conditions in the government schools. The interactive session following his talk offered the clubs an opportunity to get their queries and doubts answered.

Some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion with their inspiring presence and participation included Rotary District Governor David Hilton & his gracious wife PDC Patricia Hilton, PDC Sangeeta Sood, District Vice-chairman Sangeeta Trehan, District Secretary Shashi Kir and District Editor Kanta Kapoor. Rita Munjal and Sunita Trehan, ZLCC of Zone 7 & 4 respectively hosted the meet by making qualitative arrangements leaving no stone unturned for its success. A personal touch of hospitality by ZLCC Rita Munjal served as icing on the cake to make it a memorable event.
